The Origins  of  the  Ba Duan Jin  (Eight  Pieces of Brocade )go  back almost  a  thousand  years  to  General  Yeuh  Fei who taught a   system  of  basic  breathing and  stretching  Exercises to  his  Army to  help them keep  fit and  improve  Morale in unfavourable circumstances. As  they were encamped in cramped dangerous and   Mountainous surroundings and  to  venture  out  would  have been perilous due  to  bandits and  wild  animals.  The improvement was  incredible and  the  small  band  soon  became invincible

The  Forms  and  exercises of  this  system  of  Tai  Chi incorporate Chi Gung (  Breathing exercises) and short  patterns  of   slow  movement  emphasising  posture and  stretching  many  with  their origins  within the  Martial Arts ( Shaolin Ch’uan Fa System )
